She’s From Texas

$TBD, 44” x 44”

“She’s From Texas” was created for exhibition at Blue Hills in Round Top, Texas. The piece portrays a cowgirl in aviators and a wide-brimmed hat – an image that captures the spirit of femininity in the American West. The piece is constructed from hand-cut and stained wooden tiles crafted from black walnut, cherry, maple, and prime pine. Rather than relying on painted color, the portrait emerges through the natural tonal variations of the wood itself. Deep walnut shadows and warm cherry tones define the cowgirl’s silhouette, while lighter prime pine creates a subtle contrast within the background. The intricate grain patterns and carefully placed pieces reveal the craftsmanship and natural beauty of the materials. “She’s From Texas” celebrates the strength and individuality associated with the women who embody the enduring culture of the West.

Owing to the use of natural materials, the artwork should be maintained in a temperature-controlled environment, safeguarded from moisture and direct sunlight, to ensure the preservation of its beauty and structural integrity. Beyond its aesthetic qualities, this piece also functions as an effective sound diffuser, enhancing the acoustical character of any space.
